For the healthcare workers (or moms with super long shifts!)

Find out what you need based on real mom and lactation consultant recommendations!

What to bring

Pump + backup parts, Chiller, pump wipes or washbasin...and lots of water and snacks!

A realistic pump schedule

Aim to pump every 3–4 hours, but don’t stress if things shift. If a schedule starts to feel overwhelming, pair pumping with natural transitions like pre-rounds, meal breaks, or handoffs.

12-hour shift example:

  • Pump right before your shift
  • Pump 2–3 times during your shift (every ~4 hours)
  • Pump as soon as possible after your shift

If breaks are unpredictable...

  • Shorter, more frequent pumps (10–15 min) still count
  • One longer pump later can help make up for missed time
  • Even a “partial pump” is better than skipping entirely

Other tips

Advocate early. Tell charge nurses or supervisors your pump needs.

Hands-free + wearable pumps can be lifesavers for charting or quick sessions

Give yourself grace
