10 Things You DON’T Need to Do With Your Ceres Chill (Straight From Our Customer Service Team)

Wondering if you’re using your Ceres Chill correctly? Here are the 10 most common Ceres Chill myths we hear every day — and why the answer is almost always: nope.

If you’ve spent any time in our community, you’ve probably seen a mom ask  and we in Customer Service get these often:

“Do I need to…?”

And the answer is often:

Nope. Not at all.

One of my favorite things about the Chiller is that it was designed to make life easier, not give you one more thing to think about while you’re already keeping a tiny human alive.

So let’s clear up a few common myths.

Common Ceres Chill Myths, Busted

1. You Do NOT Need to Flip Your Ceres Chill Upside Down

This is probably one of the biggest misconceptions.

Some moms think that if they pump a small amount of milk, they need to flip the Chiller upside down so the milk touches the inner chamber.

You don’t.

The Chiller cools the entire stainless steel environment. Your milk does not need to be touching the inner chamber at all times to stay cool. If you’ve pumped 1 ounce, 3 ounces, or 5 ounces, you’re good.

Leave it upright and move on with your day.

2. You Do NOT Need to Fill It All the Way

Another common concern:

“I’m only pumping a little. Is it okay to use my Chiller?”

Absolutely.

Whether you’re collecting 1 ounce or filling the entire thing, the Chiller works the same way.

Small pumps deserve cold milk too.

3. You Do NOT Need to Wash It After Every Pump

I can hear the collective sigh of relief.

One of the reasons so many moms love the Chiller is that it allows them to collect milk throughout the day without constantly reaching for another bottle or storage bag.

Less transferring.

Less dishes.

Less time standing at the sink.

And honestly, most of us have enough on our plates already.

4. You Do NOT Need to Use Ice (But You Absolutely Can)

One of my favorite things about the Chiller is that it gives moms options.

Want to use the frozen inner chamber? Great.

Prefer to use ice and water? Also great.

Need a little extra cooling power for a long travel day? Go for it.

There isn’t one perfect setup that works for every mom, every trip, or every pumping journey. Some days you’re heading to work for a few hours. Other days you’re navigating airports, road trips, soccer tournaments, or a full day out with your family.

The Chiller was designed to meet you where you are. Because motherhood is already full of enough rules and opinions. Your milk storage doesn’t need to be one of them. Use the setup that works best for your day, your milk, and your peace of mind.

5. You Do NOT Need a Giant Cooler

Listen, if you love your giant cooler, that’s okay.

But many moms are surprised to learn they can leave the house without carrying something the size of a carry-on suitcase.

The Chiller was made for real life:

School pickup.

Work.

Road trips.

Soccer practice.

Grocery runs.

Airport adventures.

Less bulk. Same mission.

6. You Do NOT Need to Panic if Your Milk Isn’t Ice Cold Instantly

Freshly pumped milk naturally comes out warm.

That’s normal.

When added to the Chiller, the milk begins cooling down.

It doesn’t magically become refrigerator temperature the second it enters the bottle.

Trust the process.

The Chiller is designed to help maintain safe temperatures while you go about your day. For CDC-recommended breastmilk storage guidelines, see cdc.gov/breastfeeding.

7. You Do NOT Need Perfect Pumping Sessions

Maybe you pumped 6 ounces.

Maybe you pumped 1 ounce.

Maybe your baby interrupted you three times.

Maybe you forgot a pump.

Maybe you were pumping in the car while handing snacks to a toddler.

Your Chiller doesn’t judge. (Zero of that here.)

It works for oversuppliers, enoughers, combo feeders, exclusive pumpers, and nursing moms alike.

8. You Do NOT Need to Stay Home

Honestly, this might be my favorite one.

Motherhood doesn’t have to happen inside your house.

Go to the park.

Take the road trip.

Yes, you can even fly with it on an airplane, (see our tips on this here.)

Attend the birthday party.

Go hiking.

Visit family.

Book the vacation.

Your milk can come too.

9. You Do NOT Need a Mountain of Storage Bags

Storage bags absolutely have their place.

But many moms are surprised by how many fewer bags they use when they collect milk directly into their Chiller throughout the day.

Less waste.

Less transferring.

Less clutter.

Less wondering where all your storage bags disappeared to.

10. You Do NOT Need to Overthink It

If you’re a pumping mom, chances are you’ve already spent enough time worrying about ounces, schedules, flange sizes, milk temperatures, supply, and whether you’re doing everything “right.”

The Chiller was created to remove one thing from your mental load.

Not add to it.

So if you’ve ever found yourself wondering:

“Do I need to flip it?”

“Do I need to fill it?”

“Do I need ice?”

“Do I need a cooler too?”

The answer is probably:

No.

You can make this easier on yourself.

Because feeding your baby is already a big enough job. Your milk storage solution should support you. Not create more work.

Frequently Asked Questions About Using the Ceres Chill

Do I need to flip my Ceres Chill upside down for small amounts of milk?

No. The Ceres Chill cools the entire stainless steel environment, so your milk doesn’t need to touch the inner chamber to stay cold. Leave it upright.

Do I need to use ice with my Ceres Chill?

Nope. The frozen inner chamber does the work on its own. You can add ice and water for extra cooling power on long travel days, but it’s completely optional.

How often do I need to wash my Ceres Chill?

You don’t need to wash it between every pump session. One of the big perks is collecting milk throughout the day in the same vessel. Wash it fully between full days of use.

Can I use my Ceres Chill if I’m only pumping a small amount?

Absolutely. It works exactly the same whether you’ve got 1 ounce or a full bottle. Small pumps deserve cold milk too.

Is the Ceres Chill only for exclusive pumpers?

Not at all. It works for oversuppliers, enoughers, combo feeders, exclusive pumpers, and nursing moms. If you’re moving milk outside the house, it’s for you.

Does freshly pumped milk need to be cold immediately?

No. Freshly pumped milk comes out warm, and that’s completely normal. The Chiller brings it down to a safe temperature gradually. According to the CDC, freshly pumped milk can safely sit at room temperature for up to 4 hours.
